Now I am seven
and my life seems like heaven.
But when I am eight
will life be great.
When I am nine
will the world still be mine.
When I am ten
will I wish I was seven again.
But what will happen as I grow older
and those who cross my path grow bolder.
Will they hide behind a coward's gun
and shoot me down out of fear or just for fun.
So many politicians glorify the gun
would they think any different if a bullet killed their son.
Is killing just a given, is there nothing that we've learned
does life just go on, with no one concerned.
I know some day it could be me
with a bag of Skittles and one ice tea.
But now I am seven
and my life still seems like heaven.
